Sgt. Robert Hoffman Jr. Named
July Employee of the Month

On July 23, 2006, Sgt. Robert Hoffman Jr. received a tip from the Massachusetts State Police that a store in the Natick Mall was selling prohibited weapons. Sgt. Hoffman investigated the call and located and inspected the store in question at the Natick Mall. Sgt. Hoffman discovered, in plain view, two glass display cases containing numerous illegal weapons for sale to the general public.

These items included stun guns, mace, throwing spikes, double-edged throwing knives and double-edged daggers, and various other illegal weapons. Assisted by Officer Ingham and Detectives Delehanty and Brogan, Sgt. Hoffman was able to seize, inventory and photograph 35 different weapons.

Sgt. Hoffman then interviewed and charged the owner with selling dangerous weapons, Chapter 269, section 12, and electronic stun guns, Chapter 140, section 131J. Sgt. Hoffman coordinated the investigation, wrote a thorough report and utilized both departmental and Natick Mall resources. More importantly, he prevented these dangerous weapons from getting into the hands of youths and questionable persons, making our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

For his dedication and excellence in police duty, Sgt. Hoffman is hereby commended and named Employee of the Month for July 2006.
