Det. Rick Halloran Named
June Employee of the Month

Serving as the department’s Juvenile Officer, Detective Halloran has been able to combine his investigatory and interpersonal skills with his ability to build relationships within the community to increase the trust between the police and the youth of
Natick . Detective Halloran has served as an invaluable resource for all members of the department and his extensive knowledge of the Town’s youth and their families reduces the time and effort that must be expended by other members of the department when investigating juvenile-related incidents.

The most recent examples of Detective Halloran’s investigatory acumen include:

  • An April incident at the Navy Yard Field resulted in the recovery of a discarded video camera. Examination of the videotape contained therein began an extensive investigation of illicit juvenile activity that had occurred over the winter and in which Detective Halloran’s familiarity with the Town’s youth was invaluable in identifying and charging the actors.
  • At Natick High School , Detective Halloran investigated motor vehicle vandalism complaints, identified, charged and arranged for restitution from an individual illegally accessing lockers and helped coordinate and mitigate Class of 2004 activity on their last day of school.
  • Detective Halloran followed up two reported breaking & enterings. The first at 7 Bee St resulted in charges being brought against the appropriate youths. In the second, Detective Halloran was able to unravel the intricate and involved web of deceit and deception concerning an incident at 18 Morningside Ave that was eventually determined to be an exclusive parents-away party gone awry.

In addition to incidents such as these, Detective Halloran’s value is best measured by considering the number and variety of incidents brought to him that he is able to effectively handle in a way made possible through a combination of familiarity and competency.

For his commitment to the youth of this community, Detective Richard Halloran is hereby commended and named Employee of the Month for June 2004.
