Lt Alfred Grassey Named
September Employee of the Month

In anticipation of his pending retirement from the Natick Police Department, Lieutenant Alfred Grassey worked tirelessly throughout the summer months, ensuring that the community’s comprehensive emergency management plan was completed and ready to be distributed at the September meeting of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). Coordination with officials from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency was essential requiring his expertise and focus in order to move forward with the certification process for the LEPC.

Earlier this year, Lieutenant Grassey assumed the report review responsibility for the department. This required him to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the IMC records management system and the need to have complete and accurate police reports filed by officers in the field. Lieutenant Grassey was able assist officers and supervisors in understanding the new computer system and how it relates to effective investigation and prosecution of crimes committed and prosecuted in our district courts. With his patience and professional guidance, Lieutenant Grassey helped immeasurably with the transition from one system to another.

These are just two examples of the professional competence exhibited by Lieutenant Grassey. His willingness to continue to serve in an active capacity on the town’s LEPC is yet another example of his dedication to the community’s well-being.

Although now retired, I find it particularly fitting to recognize Lieutenant Alfred Grassey as the Natick Police Department’s Officer of the Month for September, 2004.
