Officer Scott Smith Named On During the
search, Officer Smith discovered the stolen items in the suspect’s
car. While conducting his search, Officer Smith discovered evidence of
five other reported larcenies from the locker room, dating back as far
as January of 2003. After more conversation with the suspect and the
suspect’s parents, Officer Smith then continued his investigation by
contacting the owners of the recovered properties and these items were
identified by the victims. Officer
Smith displayed a strong determination to solve these thefts from the
Longfellow Sports Club, which later led to the suspect admitting to
stealing ten wallets while he was a member of the club.
The Longfellow Sports Club has experienced an extensive history
of larcenies from their locker room without any leads. Since Officer
Smith successfully investigated these complaints the thefts have ceased. Officer Smith is further recognized for his tireless and lengthy investigation of a suspicious person complaint on Coachman Lane, which subsequently led to charges being filed, putting many residents at ease. For his dedication and excellence in police duty, Officer Scott Smith is hereby commended and named Employee of the Month for May 2003. Dennis
