Detective John
Haswell Named
October Employee of the Month
On
Friday, May 23, 2003
, Officer Leonard Jennings investigated a residential
breaking & entering at
257 Bacon St.
The inner door between the detached garage and
residence displayed signs of forced entry and multiple items of jewelry
were discovered missing from within. Officer Jennings initial
investigation revealed a maroon flower delivery van had been parked in
front of the residence during the time it was unoccupied. Detective John
Haswell was assigned the follow-up investigation and through
communication with other Departments was able to identify Patricia
Lallier as a potential suspect. Lallier was employed by Flowers by the
Depot 9 Main St. Natick and would sometime make deliveries using the
Depot’s red van. Deliveries made by Lallier included one on May 23,
2003 to 279 Bacon Street at about the same time a similar van was
discovered in front of #257. Detective Haswell was able to further
determine Lallier’s modus operandi through information exchanges with
departments from
Wayland
,
MA
and
Johnston
,
RI
where she was suspected of more than 20 residential
B&E’s. Haswell’s investigation of Lallier’s employment history
also revealed Lallier had been terminated from the Christmas Tree Shop
in
Sherwood
Plaza
for illicit credit card activity and from Honey Farms
on
South Main Street
for, among other things, offering jewelry at a
discounted price to customers. Through conversation with Lallier’s
roommates and friends Detective Haswell was able to collect important
pieces of evidence and information placing Lallier in possession of some
of the items removed from
257 Bacon Street
. While rebuffed in his efforts to discuss the matter
personally with Lallier, Haswell tenaciously pursued all available leads
eventually lodging complaints against Lallier for B&E and Receiving
Stolen Property. For his dedication and excellence in police duty,
Detective John Haswell is hereby commended and named Employee of the Month for October 2003.
